We are The Adsmith. We pull from years of experience in advertising, design, programming, fine art, music, and so much more. We love what we do and enjoy seeing the success we bring to our clients.
Kirk Smith, president of The Adsmith, has over 25 years of experience working in advertising, graphic design and marketing. His interest grew as a youth surrounded by the business of “creating” – he would try to draw cartoons alongside his father Don, the accomplished artist who founded The Adsmith. Kirk attended the University of Georgia, majoring in Graphic Design while working part-time helping the company in any way that he could. An Athens native, Kirk has always believed in volunteering within his local community and in recent years has served on the boards of the Cancer Foundation, Free to Breathe and the Clarke County Mentor Program.
Raised in coastal Georgia, Scott began drawing pictures at a young age and hasn’t stopped. As a teenager he created designs and color separations for silk screening, buried his head in comic books and learned about lettering in a local sign shop. Scott earned his BFA from the University of Georgia and later taught graphic design there for 10 years. For the last 17 years at The Adsmith he’s enjoyed creating solutions that help clients achieve their goals. In his free time Scott enjoys painting and spending time with his wife, Allison, and his daughter.
If anyone knows design, it’s Harold Dean. He’s been cranking out print materials and winning awards for our friends at the UGA Athletic Association, among others, for as long as we can remember. As a seasoned Adsmith Designer, he makes up 1/3 of the tried-and-true trio, complete with Scott and Kirk. When Harold’s not at work, he enjoys a good old-fashioned game of football or basketball.
Matt, one of our most dedicated Jittery Joe’s Coffee addicts, brings over fifteen years of web development experience. He’s got quite the range of talent, with expertise in HTML, PHP, MySQL, and various CMS systems. He also plays the lottery – though he never wins. Ever.
Noelle, a native of Hawaii and Art Director at the Adsmith, began working as an intern in the summer of 2010 and just never left. She loves a quality gig poster and anything adorned with old-school tattoo style or hand-drawn typography. To add to her many ambitions, like playing rhythm guitar and singing in local punk band, Shehehe, Noelle has recently taken up screen printing, cross stitching, and bowling.
Amanda, another former intern and University of Georgia graduate, jumped at the opportunity to come back to Athens after spending a few years living in and working the Atlanta design scene. Amanda’s passion for design is inspired by hand-drawn elements and things found in nature. A sucker for a great comic book, she can be found scouring the local shops for a good read or taking pleasure in checking out local artistry, and adoring her pets Cody and Sterling.
Will, another former intern, couldn’t resist coming home after crawling up the East Coast for a series of notable design endeavors. Will’s love for long-distance running necessarily counteracts his obsession with caffeine and burritos. He also fancies getting out with his wife, Brittany, and three kiddos, who keep him constantly on his toes.
Front End Developer
Ash White is a wannabe mechanic / musician cleverly disguised as a web developer. Inspired by a strong cup of iced coffee, Ash builds web sites alongside the Adsmith design team. With a craftsman’s eye for details, no errant line of code is safe around this guy. When he isn’t working, Ash can be found tinkering with his Triumph motorcycle.
